The National Association of State Budget Officers (NASBO) has just published another one of its terrific Newsflash series with snapshots of current fiscal decision-making work going on in every one of the nation's 50 state capitols, providing excellent vignette's of the how each state's Governor, Treasurer and legislature are addressing the dilemmas of how best to spend their allocations of federal American Recovery Act aid as they simultaneously pivot from a "scarcity mentality" of tax and fee revenue shortfall expectations to a "plenty mentality" as much more robust revenue receipts show up on their books. BTW: You can find links to the full set of past newsflashes published from May 11, 2018 forward right here.
My hat's off particularly to Brian Sigritz, NASBO's Director of State Fiscal Studies for leading the hard work of keeping this series of very interesting snapshots coming during these wild and crazy pandemic recovery times.
